A.J. Jerrett writes and illustrates books for children

A.J. is currently looking for representation for a graphic novel for young readers that he is writing and illustrating.

The picture book “Oshi Goes to the Library” and the comic book “Otto & José Save the Library!” were funded and distributed by the Fitchburg Public Library using a federal grant to use as a tool to explain the purpose of a free library in a fun and engaging way to students in Kindergarten and the 6th grade, as well as to their parents. These bilingual books were given away free to students at an end of the year library visit.

Many cities and towns have large immigrant populations just like Fitchburg. Libraries offer a lot of valuable resources and support to all residents. These books are a great way to engage young children and teach families about the importance of libraries and the services they provide. I created the characters, wrote the stories, created the art and the graphic design for both books.

These books are available to your library. Contact A.J. for more information. See below for previews.

Oshi Goes to the Library

The picture book “Oshi Goes to the Library” is about an octopus named Oshi who moves from the ocean to a small city on land. The family learns that they can borrow, not only books, but other things to help them acclimate to their new city including bikes, gardening materials, movies, music, wifi hotspots. The library also has after school activities, computers and printers.

Otto and José Save the Library

The comic book “Otto & José Save the Library!” is about an alien named Otto who crash lands onto the roof of the local library. Otto needs to save the town from a star meteorite and, with the help of a new friend named José, uses items borrowed from the library to save the town from disaster. Half of this book is the story in English and the other half is the same story in Spanish.
